La segunda subasta anual 'Lo mejor de Honduras: cosecha tard\u00eda' se llev\u00f3 a cabo del 24 al 30 de julio en Honduras.<\/h3>\n

Un panel internacional de jueces lleg\u00f3 a Honduras a fines de julio para probar y calificar los mejores caf\u00e9s de la cosecha tard\u00eda. 36 caf\u00e9s, elegidos por un jurado nacional, fueron catados a ciegas y calificados antes de que el panel internacional de jueces catara y seleccionara los mejores caf\u00e9s, que se lanzaron a una subasta en l\u00ednea en Cropster Hub.<\/p>\n

Los visitantes internacionales pasaron varios d\u00edas visitando fincas e intercambiando informaci\u00f3n con los productores de caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Por segundo a\u00f1o consecutivo,\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Abel Gir\u00f3n<\/strong> de Las Bojitas<\/strong> fue el campe\u00f3n del remate, con una pacamara lavada (1500 msnm) que obtuvo un impresionante 91.34.<\/p>\n

Antes de ingresar al programa de subasta 'Best of', Jos\u00e9 vend\u00eda su caf\u00e9 a cooperativas locales y recib\u00eda entre $2.50 \u2013 $3 USD\/lb. En la subasta 'Best of Honduras: Late Harvest' 2017, su caf\u00e9 se vendi\u00f3 por $29.10 USD\/libra<\/strong>, un gran aumento de los precios normales de las materias primas.<\/p>\n

reynaldo mu\u00f1oz lopez<\/strong> fue un cercano segundo, con sus pacas lavadas de Los Primos<\/strong> en Santa B\u00e1rbara anotando 91.19. Al igual que Jos\u00e9, Reynaldo recibi\u00f3 un precio mucho m\u00e1s alto por su caf\u00e9 que en cosechas anteriores, recibiendo $20.10 USD\/libra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Glenis Izaguirre Tr\u00f3chez<\/strong> qued\u00f3 tercero con otro caf\u00e9 de Santa B\u00e1rbara, unas pacas lavadas de El Canal<\/strong>\u00a0que anot\u00f3 89.66 y le permiti\u00f3 a Jos\u00e9 (Tr\u00f3chez) recibir\u00a0$20.20 USD\/lb.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Las subastas 'Best of' tienen como objetivo conectar a los amantes y compradores del caf\u00e9 con los productores y exportadores, en el origen. Al conectar los diferentes extremos de la cadena mundial del caf\u00e9, nuestro objetivo es promulgar un cambio positivo, particularmente para los productores, que pueden no estar ganando lo suficiente para mantenerse a s\u00ed mismos y a sus familias.<\/p>\n

Una historia que ha surgido de esta subasta es la del ganador de la subasta Jos\u00e9 y la empresa que gan\u00f3 su caf\u00e9 en la subasta, Honey Coffee of Japan. Los miembros del equipo de Honey Coffee no solo asistieron al evento de subasta de 2016 y regresaron en 2017 para comprar el caf\u00e9 de Jos\u00e9, sino que tambi\u00e9n visitaron su finca a principios de 2017 en un viaje separado, para comprarle m\u00e1s caf\u00e9 en una asociaci\u00f3n comercial directa.<\/p>\n

Estamos encantados de que Jos\u00e9, que antes de esto nunca se hab\u00eda involucrado en el comercio directo, ahora haya establecido una relaci\u00f3n con compradores y tostadores de caf\u00e9 del otro lado del mundo y asegurado precios m\u00e1s altos para sus caf\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
