La subasta 'Lo Mejor de Honduras: Cosecha Tard\u00eda' para 2018 comenz\u00f3 ayer, con un Panel Internacional de jueces llegando a la sede de IHCAFE para comenzar las sesiones de calibraci\u00f3n y evaluaci\u00f3n.<\/h6>\n

Hablamos con un nuevo juez, Sian Minary-Bland<\/strong> sobre su carrera en el caf\u00e9 y su asistencia a su primer evento de evaluaci\u00f3n de caf\u00e9 en Origin.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00bfHace cu\u00e1nto trabajas en el caf\u00e9?<\/p>\n

He estado trabajando en caf\u00e9 durante aproximadamente tres a\u00f1os y medio. Primero comenc\u00e9 en un restaurante local en el tri\u00e1ngulo parlamentario de Canberra. Yo era camarera en ese momento, pero sab\u00eda que quer\u00eda ampliar mis habilidades y en unos pocos meses me form\u00e9 como barista. Me mud\u00e9 a Sydney poco despu\u00e9s y encontr\u00e9 otro trabajo de barista en un caf\u00e9 de gran volumen dentro de los edificios del Commonwealth Bank. Pero cuando regres\u00e9 a Canberra y comenc\u00e9 a trabajar con ONA, sab\u00eda que solo estaba comenzando a comprender el caf\u00e9 y lo que se necesita para ser un buen barista.<\/p>\n

\u00bfD\u00f3nde trabajas actualmente?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actualmente he estado en el extranjero viajando con mi pareja. Hemos estado explorando lo que el mundo tiene para ofrecer y, en el camino, hemos encontrado algunas cafeter\u00edas especiales. Ha sido muy refrescante encontrar personas en todo el mundo que comparten la misma pasi\u00f3n que t\u00fa. \u00bfQu\u00e9 te atrajo del caf\u00e9 y de trabajar con \u00e9l? Inicialmente, sab\u00eda que la industria del caf\u00e9 es una de las m\u00e1s grandes del mundo y si pudiera tener las habilidades b\u00e1sicas, me dar\u00eda oportunidades laborales dondequiera que viajara. Ahora disfruto c\u00f3mo brinda la oportunidad de conocer a tanta gente, ya sea que est\u00e9n en la industria o simplemente sean clientes habituales. Creo que el caf\u00e9 est\u00e1 en constante evoluci\u00f3n y siempre puedes aprender algo d\u00eda a d\u00eda que lo mantiene interesante. Creo que, en particular, con ONA siempre estamos tratando de traspasar los l\u00edmites y para cada caf\u00e9 hay un nuevo l\u00edmite que traspasar.<\/p>\n

\u00bfCu\u00e1l es tu parte favorita de la industria?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Todav\u00eda soy bastante nuevo en la industria, pero cada aspecto, desde el agricultor hasta la taza, tiene su propia inquietud. Creo que una de mis cosas favoritas es c\u00f3mo el caf\u00e9 conecta al mundo. Por ejemplo, poder viajar al otro lado del mundo, sentarse en un caf\u00e9 y conversar con el barista local sobre d\u00f3nde obtienen los granos, qui\u00e9n tuesta su caf\u00e9 y qu\u00e9 disfrutan. Tiene un verdadero sentido de comunidad y todos compartimos la pasi\u00f3n por hacer caf\u00e9 de calidad.<\/p>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo te involucraste con Project Origin? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Trabajar con ONA se relaciona con Project Origin ya que obtienen los caf\u00e9s, as\u00ed que, naturalmente, conoc\u00ed a Habib y Yanina mientras trabajaba en ONA. Antes de irme al extranjero, presentaron una presentaci\u00f3n de diapositivas sobre Project Origin y me pareci\u00f3 muy fascinante, especialmente c\u00f3mo tienen Best of Auctions y cu\u00e1nto trabajo se requiere para producir y procesar el caf\u00e9. As\u00ed que cuando se present\u00f3 la oportunidad supe que era algo que no pod\u00eda dejar pasar.<\/p>\n

\u00bfSer\u00e1 la Subasta Lo Mejor de Honduras su primer viaje de origen?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a1\u00a1S\u00ed!! Creo que el punto de inflexi\u00f3n para m\u00ed fue cuando conoc\u00ed a uno de los productores, Don Fabio de Honduras. Comparti\u00f3 sus historias sobre ser productor y realmente me llam\u00f3 la atenci\u00f3n la pasi\u00f3n y el compromiso que ponen en el cultivo del caf\u00e9. La gran cantidad de trabajo para cultivar caf\u00e9 es incre\u00edble. A partir de ah\u00ed pens\u00e9 que si la oportunidad de ir al origen y ver de primera mano y conocer a los productores ten\u00eda que ir. Y qu\u00e9 mejor manera de ver a estos productores obtener lo mejor de su arduo trabajo que en el evento Best of Auction.<\/p>\n

\u00bfTienes un caf\u00e9 favorito o un pa\u00eds productor de caf\u00e9?<\/strong><\/p>\n

A m\u00ed me encantan los caf\u00e9s et\u00edopes. Recuerdo que el primer caf\u00e9 et\u00edope que tom\u00e9 fue en ONA cuando comenc\u00e9 y me encanta desde entonces. Realmente disfruto los sabores afrutados y arom\u00e1ticos. \u00bfHay algo en particular que est\u00e9 buscando\/lograr en Honduras? Para absorber y aprender tanto como pueda en tan poco tiempo. Conozca a tantas personas como sea posible dentro de la industria.
