Regional Label Coffees
Consistent profiles | Reliable volumes | Priced to your needs

You need stable profiles for your blends.
That's why we source for exactly this.
Our Regionals Label features curated profiles designed for blending and bulk components. In this label, we value profiles focusing on body, soft acidity, and round flavours. These coffees will always be available in large volumes, and there are a multitude of storage options to accomodate your warehouse capacity.

プロジェクトの起源 exists to empower people so together we can change the world we see.

How many coffees can I contract at once?
You can contract as many coffees at once as you like.
We always recommend you contract close to the time that origin harvests though. That’s when the best options are available and you secure fresh harvest lots for your rotations.
Do I need to be a big roaster to contract my stock?
Not at all! Contracting stock is intended to secure your supply of stock for the short, medium or long term. It doesn’t matter how much you roast each week.
If you need specific profiles, supplied in relatively predictable volumes, and you want reliable fixed prices, then contracting stock is the way to go.
How can I get an indicative price for a coffee before I consider contracting?
Head to our pricing guide chart こちらです。.
Prices are indicative only, and your final price would be based on the total volume, drawdown period and which coffee you are looking at, but it’s a great guide to get you started.
All our core bulk options are there with live indicative prices based on today’s C-market price and AUD/USD FX rate. Give it a whirl!
How can I contract something I have never tasted?
You don’t need to cup a coffee to know how much volume you need – we just need to find you the right profile to match. All of our advance contracts are “pending sample approval”. If you don’t approve, you don’t have to buy. It’s that simple.
How it works: You tell us your priorities – profile, process, price, origin? We will suggest the coffees that can meet your needs. If you agree we draw up a contract together pending sample approval. Our sourcing team will find this coffee on your behalf. You will receive a pre-shipment sample to confirm the stock matches what we agreed.
If the sample doesn’t match what we contracted you’re not obligated to buy the coffee. We’ll try again to find something that does match. If that doesn’t work out, you have no obligation.
If the sample meets the contracted agreement, then we ship the coffee and you have your stock secured.
What is the minimum volume I can contract?
For us the size of the contract isn’t the most important factor. It’s about the purpose of the coffee and how often the origin harvests.
If you’re buying a microlot you could contract as little as one bag or box if that’s all you need to feature it in your roastery for this crop year.
If you’re looking at a component you roast regularly, say, 1 bag every month, and it comes from an origin that harvests once per year, we’d suggest you contract 12 bags. That will last you until the next harvest comes available.
Can I contract any origin?
Short answer, yes. The most common origins we forecast and contract include Brazil, Colombia, PNG, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama and Kenya.
But we can also contract you ahead for Ecuador, Honduras, Rwanda, Peru, Malaysia, Guatemala if you need. This is pre-planning at its finest.
I want to contract stock but I don't like the AUD price. What do I do?
Guess what: we can worry about the AUD price later. We do not need to lock in both your currency exchange rate AND your stock volumes at the same time. We can do these independently. Your first and primary concern should be stock volumes. Let’s lock in the exchange rate another day.
How do I ensure consistency of cup quality across my full contract?
Project Origin specifically curates Regional Label coffees from different origins to suit the profiles that roasters most commonly request. Our priority is keeping those Regionals tasting as close to profile as possible with every lot and every shipment we select.
We cup and grade every Regional lot that goes into every container, and we do this multiple times during the stages of post-harvest offer samples, pre-shipment samples, and on-arrival quality control.
It is not often we are met with surprises in quality due to being regular in our quality checks along the way and having sourced the Regional lots through stable partners at origin for many years.
All our quality checks are recorded, and this information is available to you upon request too.
How do i organise my drawdowns? Does this need to follow a schedule or can i be flexible in my drawdown dates?
When you contract with us we’ll set up an estimated usage of the coffee per month, and then make a rough plan for deliveries that suit you, whether that’s by the pallet, or mixed with other coffees you have contracted or spot coffees you expect to order.
Your contract will note the estimated total period for your full allocation, and when to expect your first drawdown.
This is so we can ensure your stock is physically on hand when you need it.
But if your usage changes and you want to modify your drawdowns, our Sales team is always in contact with you and able to help adjust. We’re happy to find dynamic solutions with you.
Where will my coffee be stored?
Depending on your drawdown schedule, volume, and location, we have options! We can store in our Canberra warehouse, in a temperature and humidity monitored environment.
Or we can store at a warehouse closer to you for faster delivery.
Or we can directly ship your entire cargo from origin direct to your roastery.
Can I get my contracted stock direct shipped to my roastery?
Absolutely! Direct shipments are a great option to save money on shipping when buying large volumes. From need ing about 10tonne of a specific coffee to needing multiple containers per year, sending the container straight to your roastery is a great way to save on domestic freight fees.
And, don’t worry, just because it ships directly to you, doesn’t mean we ignore your quality control checks!
And if you have space to take direct shipments, but can’t pay for the coffee all at once, we can discuss financing that accommodates periodic payments over time even though you’ve already received the stock too.
How much is the cost of road freight?
Project Origin does not mark up the cost of transport to your roastery. We just pass on the cost we are charged.
The price of road freight in Australia is based on where the coffee is stored, where it is being delivered to, and the weight bracket of each delivery (i.e is it a 960kg delivery, or a 240kg delivery, they may be priced differently by the freight company).
If you want to save money the best options are to make sure each order is as close to a full pallet (~1000kg) as you can manage for your cashflow and storage, and even order multiple pallets at a time if you can.
Our team can discuss the options with you specific to your location and the coffee you’re after to help you save money here.
Can my contract include the cost of delivery to my roastery?
It sure can! When we organise your contract, we can either include shipping in the price per kilo, or charge it per delivery.
When placing an order, how long does it take to receive?
Whether contracted or on spot, if the stock is in our warehouse in Canberra, you can receive an order in Australia between 2-10 business days, depending on where you are located. Our team can help you preplan so you receive the stock when you need it.
If we have a warehouse closer to you, it can take 1-3 business days.
How long does it take between contracting a coffee to being able to receive it?
This depends on when you contracted your coffee, and whether the coffee is already physically in Australia or still at origin. If you’ve forward contracted something that isn’t in Australia yet your sales person will give you the best estimated month of arrival, and from that month onwards you could start ordering. This is usually written into your contract as the month of “First Drawdown”.
What if I run out of my contract early?
Our Sales team will monitor your contract and drawdowns as we go. Usually if we notice you’re ordering more than expected, or faster than expected, we’d mention it to you with enough time to plan.
Our standard process is to talk to you 3-4 months before your contract is due to run out to make sure you’re aware and you have a plan in place for your stock once this contract ends.
What if I contract too much stock?
Don’t stress. Our contracts will always have a level of flexibility based on your changing usage. We will monitor your usage over the contract timeline so we can adjust if needed as we go. We can provide you more time to drawdown the stock, or on some occasions we can reduce the contracted volume.
What if I lock in a coffee price and the c-market drops?
Once you sign a contract for stock we secure that physical stock so that we are not at risk of losing money if the market moves or stock becomes unavailable after that day. That means once your contract is signed your physical coffee is locked in.
The best way to remove this as a worry is to make sure you consider if buying that stock at that price works well for you before you sign the contract. If it does, lock it in and give your business the certainty of stock security. Then forget about it.
Sometimes your price could’ve gotten better… sometimes it could’ve gotten worse. There’s no way to know and you’re not in the business of gambling, you’re in the business of roasting and sharing delicious coffee.
You can’t roast if you don’t have physical stock.
What if I lock in an AUD price and the FX gets better?
Once you sign a contract in AUD we secure that currency so that we are not at risk of losing money if the FX changes after that day. That means once your contract is signed your AUD price is locked in.
The best way to remove this as a worry is to make sure you consider if a price works well for you before you sign the contract. If it does, lock it in and give your business the certainty of a set price. Then forget about it.
Sometimes your price could’ve gotten better… sometimes it could’ve gotten worse. There’s no way to know and you’re not in the business of gambling, you’re in the business of roasting and sharing delicious coffee.
How far into the future should I contract?
Most origins harvest once per year. So if an origin is important to you, the contract should cover you until the next harvest, which is a 12 month cycle. Alternatively, contract until you no longer need that coffee or origin.
If you want advice on how you can use the different harvest times to plan your stock and contracts more effectively, and have fresher coffee all year round, talk to one of our Sales team. Or you can read our article on Creating Blends and see the section about harvest timing.
I am nervous about contracting so far ahead. What do I do?
We get it. Committing is scary. That’s why our contracts come with room to move. We don’t just guess at your volume and stock needs for such a lengthy amount of time and expect you to fulfil that. We calculate, and consult with you so your contracts are tailored to your needs.
Still nervous? Let us help you navigate the unknowns. It’s what we plan for
