Producer Edgar Encalada is a talented producer who planted 5000 acawa coffee trees in 2017 across his farm Pueblo Nuevo. This coffee varietal was developed to reduce the risk of coffee leaf rust disease, which can be detrimental to a producer’s harvest for years. Edgar has produced this interesting coffee varietal using both washed and honey processing methods, and our experience with his coffees have left us speechless as we stamp the gold label upon his lots. Evidently, the green beans from the acawa tree are to be watched.
