Announced in late May 2017, this denomination will act as a means of identifying coffees that come from the Alotepec region in Chalatenango, a well-known coffee growing region in El Salvador. For Nicaragua an early harvest in combination with a late timing of our auction meant we’ve had to cancel our Best of Nicaragua Auction event. The ‘Project Origin: Best of El Salvador’ auction for 2017 has come to an end. Congratulations to all the producers who entered this year and to the buyers who participated in the live online auction. The results for the auction can be found here. The ‘Project Origin: Best of’ auction series aims to connect coffee producers and buyers worldwide, at origin. But how do they work? First, producers submit their coffees, in several categories. This changes depending on the country hosting the auction. Then, a National Jury in the host country judges and selects any coffee scoring above 85 and above. This can result in any number of coffees being shortlisted. Samples of these coffees are then made available worldwide, through our Cropster hub.
